13w3d :)

A lot of time has passed since my last post but there isn't too much to catch up on.  We had our second OB appt with Maggie the PA about 3 weeks ago and it was great! We got to hear Poppy's heartbeat and I can't wait to hear it again!  It was amazing :)  My next appt is Jan 3 which is almost here!  Shawn went with me to the last one but said he didn't need to go to the next so Aunt Ashley is going to come with me :)  She is excited to hear the heartbeat to!

I also had an echo done last week to see how my heart is doing so far.  I saw a cardiologist at St. Joe's and they were pleased with what they saw.  I only spoke with the tech that did the echo but she showed the print out to the doctor and the doctor said everything looked good.  They are sending the results over to my OB and we will discuss them at my appt on Monday.

Christmas has come and gone, we had a great holiday with both our families.  I can't believe it's almost 2011!  Today was my last day of work until 2011.  For NYE we are heading to Philly to visit Zacc and Sheila.  We haven't seen them since this past summer so we are pretty excited to spend some time with them!

Will post more after my 14 week appt on Monday!

High Risk OB Appt

So today I had my high risk OB consultation at St. Joe's hospital.  It went extremely well!  I met with Dr. Cootauco for about 45 minutes and we discussed pretty much everything tetralogy of fallot relating to pregnancy.  She thinks I should be able to have a normal pregnancy, which is exactly what Dr. Tatum (cardiologist at Children's) told me earlier this year.  She wants me to come back for a sonogram at 19 weeks and a fetal echocardiogram between 22-24 weeks.  She is also going to refer me to a cardiologist at St. Joe's so that someone at the hospital can be monitoring my heart as well.  They want me to have at least one echo in the middle of my pregnancy and another one near the end so they can track the changes of my heart during and after my pregnancy.

After my appointment I contacted Children's to let them know I'm pregnant :) and see where they wanted to go from here.  It took about 5 transfers to get to the person I needed to talk to but we got it all figured out and Dr. Tatum is to call me to let me know the next step.  Today was another great day!  I am so thankful to be going through this experience and to have such great family, friends, and doctors helping me along the way!!!

And BTW...if you are reading this post PLEASE become a follower!  :)  I'm feeling a little lonely lol!!!  Thanks sis for being my first!!!  <3 you!

First Ultrasound!!!

I really really REALLY need to do a better job of updating this more frequently and on the day that things actually happen!!  :)  I WILL start doing better!

So anyways...this past Wednesday Shawn and I went to our first ultrasound and got to see our little Poppy for the very first time!!!  It was incredible!  We even got to see the flicker of Poppy's heartbeat!  Our baby measured 7w3d at 1.28 cm!

On Tuesday I will see the high risk doctor and hopefully they will have some input on my sonogram as well...the place we went to is affiliated with my OB but they couldn't tell me anything other than there was a baby with a heartbeat lol!

Shawn was so cute when they were showing us the baby...and funny...he made sure to ask the technician if she was sure there was only one baby in there lol!!!  He said he can only afford one right now haha!

Grammie and Shelby got here last night and we told them at dinner :)  Grammie and mom started crying and Shelby thought it was cool!  It was a great moment!  Now that Grammie knows we aren't really keeping it a secret anymore...and thank goodness for that lol...this is a big secret to keep!

I am 8 weeks today and am feeling good!  A little nauseous from time to time and tired but a very happy mommy to be!

Shawn spent the weekend in DuBois at camp hunting bear and is on his way back to Baltimore now - hooray!  So I think its time to get comfy, put on a movie, and relax until he gets home :)

First OB Appt!!

Today was my first OB appt :)  It wasn't too exciting, I met with the nurse and we went over my medical history and she answered any questions I had.  She gave me a due date of July 3, 2011.  After my appt I had to go across the hall to get some blood drawn.  They drew 7 tubes of blood and it took forever lol!!!  I will have a dating u/s this Wednesday and we will get to see our little Poppy for the very first time!  Shawn is so excited that we get to see the baby in 2 days!!!!  Of course I am too :)

After my sonogram I will schedule an appt with the high risk doctor.  The nurse said that doesn't necessarily mean I'm high risk, they just want me to see the high risk doctor because of my heart...just in case :)  And then my next OB appt is December 7.  Let the fun begin!

I've been very tired and haven't had much motivation to blog lately lol, I'm going to try harder now that I'll be having more doctor appts and what not!

One week!

It's been one week since we got out BFP (big freaking positive)!  Tomorrow I will be 5 weeks along, just 2 and a half more weeks until my first OB Appt!  I am so anxious for that appt, I'm ready for it to be here now!!

Last week at this time we were getting ready to head to DuBois for the weekend to tell Grammie, Grandpa, Aunt Ashley, and Uncle Dommy the good news!  It was hard enough not telling mom and Ash all day Thursday and Friday, I was about ready to burst when we got to the house Friday night!  I wasn't sure how I was going to tell them until Dad suggested we drink some wine.  So I poured 4 glasses and practically drug Ash and Dom to the library where I proceeded to make a toast to the 7 of us in the room :)  It didn't take them long to catch on and by the end of my little toast I was in tears, along with mom, and Ash was jumping up and down and screaming lol.  It was a great moment :)

Now here we are getting ready to head to Derry for the weekend to share our news with Grandma B, Grandpa B, Uncle Aaron, and Aunt Becky.  Not sure how we are going to do it just yet but I'm sure we will come up with something before we get there tomorrow :)

We've decided to wait to tell everyone else Thanksgiving.  Originally I wanted to wait until Christmas but I know I won't be able to keep quiet that long!  After telling the rest of our families then we will share it with our friends.  Shawn has done really well with not spilling the beans lol!  He hasn't told a sole!  I'm so proud :)  I on the other hand had to tell Melissa the day I got my BFP...I probably would have gone crazy without having her to talk to!!!

Until next time....

And so it begins :)

I've wanted to start a blog for a while but really haven't had the motivation to really do so until now.

A few months ago Shawn and I had the baby talk and decided we were ready to start a family.  We don't want our child to be born during tax season so we waited until August before we started trying.  I went off birth control in May and started charting my waking temperature to get in tune with my body.  (My BFP Chart)  I was soooo excited when August finally got here!  The first cycle wasn't a success, though I didn't have high expectations to begin with so we were both ok with that.  We knew it could take a healthy couple up to a year before conceiving so we were ready for the journey.

I was pretty sure that our second cycle would end the same way as the first.  I tried not to get my hopes up once again because I didn't think our timing was very good this month.  Last Wednesday I decided I was going to test in the morning just for fun.  I wasn't expecting to see two lines or pregnant but I gave it a shot.

I could barely sleep that night...even though I wasn't very hopefully, the anticipation was killing me!  I tested at 4:50am and on October 21, 2010 we found out we were expecting our first child!!!!  :)

Shawn was still half asleep when I told him and thought I was crazy lol!  I made him took at the test just to make sure there were 2 lines!!!  I wanted to see the word so I tested again at 7 with a digital and sure enough it said pregnant :)

It's been 5 days but I still can't believe we are going to be parents!  We are so excited and looking forward to enjoying every moment of the journey that lies ahead of us!

More to come about telling Grammie, Grandpa, Aunt Ashley, and Uncle Dommy next time :)
